The University of Indianapolis’ men’s basketball team split a pair of games last week in defeating Southern Indiana 82-78 before losing to Bellarmine (Louisville) 101-65 to snap a five-game winning.

The Greyhounds (15-4, 9-2 Great Lakes Valley Conference) will host Quincy (Illinois) at 7:45 p.m. Thursday and Truman State (Missouri) at 3:15 p.m. Saturday.

The lady Hounds (6-15, 4-7) also faced Southern Indiana, winning 73-64, and Bellarmine, losing 70-50. Their schedule is the same as the men’s, with tips at 5:30 and 1 p.m.

Marian’s men’s team (19-5, 7-5 Crossroads League) lost to conference foes Indiana Wesleyan 82-72 and Huntington 88-79.

Dion Smith (Franklin Central) had 18 points against Indiana Wesleyan and 20 points, 11 rebounds and five assists against Huntington.

The Knights played Bethel Tuesday (result unavailable at press time) and will host St. Francis at 3 p.m. today and Mount Vernon at 7 p.m. Saturday.

The Lady Knights (21-3, 12-0) are having great time on the court, especially after defeating Indiana Wesleyan 51-48 Jan. 27 on Lakan Hasser-Smith’s buzzer-beating 3-pointer. The senior scored 15 point while grabbing nine rebounds and dishing out three assists.

Coach Katie Geralds’ team had another exciting game Saturday. After spotting Huntington a 32-16 lead, the Knights outscored the Foresters 55-24 for a 71-56 victory. Kellie Kirkhoff (Roncalli) scored seven points and had four rebounds.

Up next is a home date against Bethel at 7 p.m. today and a road game against St. Francis at 1 p.m. Saturday.

It’s getting close to the end of the season, so now is the time to attend one of these exciting games.
