Center Grove’s girls track and field team captured the Franklin sectional last week by winning four events and two relays, but the boys team fell by a mere point against host Columbus North, 132-131.
Perry Meridian and Southport girls were third and fourth, respectively, at Pike, and Franklin Central was third at Shelbyville.
Franklin Central’s boys were second to host Warren Central, 150-111.
Girls regionals were held Tuesday, too late for deadline, at Ben Davis and Shelbyville for qualifiers from the Southside. Boys regionals are Thursday at North Central and Franklin. The top three finishers from each event qualify for semistate. Qualifiers also include those who exceed event standards.
