Three of the state’s top high school basketball players from the Southside will take to the Bankers Life Fieldhouse floor Saturday for the annual Indiana-Kentucky High School All-Star games.
Roncalli’s Lindsey Corsaro, the school’s all-time leading scorer, and Greenwood’s Holly Hoopingarner are on the girls all-star team.
The 6-foot Corsaro announced last weekend that she will play college basketball at UCLA, ending a search that began when she decommitted to Kentucky after an assistant coach left the Wildcats.
Corsaro averaged 25.3 points and 9.7 rebounds as a senior and led the Rebels to a regional championship. She scored a school record 1,907 career points.
Hoopingarner is Greenwood’s first female Indiana All-Star. The 5-4 guard is an IUPUI recruit who averaged 23.6 points, 2.8 assists and 2.4 steals as a senior.
Southport’s Joey Brunk, a 6-10 standout for the Cardinals, averaged 18.3 points and 8.2 rebounds and led the team to its first sectional title since 2000 and first regional championship since 1990.
One of the nation’s most sought-after players, Brunk will play for Butler.
The girls game tips at 5 p.m, the boys at 8 p.m. Tickets are available at the box office and www.ticketmaster.com.
The boys play at Freedom Hall in Louisville at 1 p.m. Sunday, the girls at 3 p.m.
