Southport will play for a regional championship tonight at 8 p.m. after advancing past Connersville 42-35 this afternoon.
Junior guard Paul Scruggs led the Cardinals with 21 points and had a key block late in the fourth quarter. Southport pressed Connersville into traps and forced some turnovers. The Spartans had some chances but missed timely 3-pointers. The Spartans did harass Cardinal center Joey Brunk with double and even triple-teams through out the game.
Southport will play Terre Haute South at Southport as the THS upset North Central in the first game.
