Highlights of her season were winning the Marion County title and breaking a 32-year-old school record in winning the Southport Sectional with a time of 2 minutes, 15.89 seconds. She qualified for state by finishing second in the Ben Davis Regional with a time of 2:17.93, just a half-second behind Cathedral’s Katherine Free.
Bill Case, a former Southport track coach, commented on Sullivan’s success. “Most of the time when you see breakthroughs like this, you see an athlete who has run cross country,” he said. “But it is my understanding she has been involved in soccer has no other running background. That is why I feel what she is doing is so remarkable. She appears humble and determined, and when she races she is definitely striving to excel.”
