Greenwood High School distance runner Allie Dalton keeps rewriting her records and raising her national ranking.
A few days after winning three events in the Johnson County meet, Dalton won the 3,200-meter race at the prestigious Eastern Relays at the University of Louisville on April 24. Her time of 10 minutes, 38.76 seconds was 1.19 seconds quicker than runner-up Michaela Reinhart of Lexington (Ky.) Catholic.
She also lowered her school record in the 3,200 by 11 seconds against a field of 80 runners, which was divided into three groups.

Dalton, a sophomore, ranks 16th among all-time Indiana schoolgirl runners in the 3,200 and has the 42nd best time in the nation. She set a county meet record in the 3,200 with a time of 11:07.69 and was the lead-off runner on Greenwood’s record-setting 3,200 relay team (10:02.91), which also featured Kayla Rance, Maddie Renfro and Taylor Neely.
Dalton also won the 1,600-meter race in 5:14.42; Neely took the 400 in 1:00.47.

Greenwood finished second to Center Grove, which won the meet for the 12th consecutive time.
Freshman Haley Goines led the Trojans by winning the 100-meter hurdles (15.85 seconds) and long jump (16-10) and anchoring the 400 relay (51.0).

Center Grove claimed seven other champions: Olivia Rassell, 100 dash, 12.44 and 200, 26.01; Taylor Hickey, 800, 2:25.95; Tori Long, 300 hurdles, 48.67; Taylor Pennington, high jump, 6-5; Stephanie Stone, shot put, 37-2; 400 relay (Allison Utterback, Ashley Wheat, Russell, Goins) 51.0; and 1,600 relay (Utterback, Long, Russell, Lauren Ralph) 4:14.12.

Center Grove won 10 events and captured the boys championship for the 17th year in a row. The Trojans amassed 182 points; Greenwood was fourth with 61 points.

The Trojans’ winners: Derrick Grimmer, 100, 11.3, and 200, 22.93; Jackson Hohlt, 400, 50.4; Grant Stapleton, 800, 2:00.42, and 1,600, 4:30.87; Griffin Miller, 3,200, 9:48.84; Trevor Hohlt, 300 hurdles, 41.47; 400 relay (Conner Steeb, Titus McCoy, Frank Mason, J.Hohlt), 43.66; 1,600 relay (T.
