Roncalli’s boys tennis team won its 10th sectional title and its second straight with a 5-0 win Sept. 27 over Lutheran in a match played at Franklin Central.
Senior Austin Schofield won at No.1, singles, and his brother, sophomore Tyler Schofield, was victorious at No. 2 singles. Sophomore Sam Limcaco won at No. 3. singles. The No. 1 doubles team of seniors Garrett Meek and Jacob Perez won, as did the No. 2 doubles team of sophomore Kaden Meek and senior Tyler Pollard.
The Rebels advanced to the final after a 3-2 win over Franklin Central Sept. 26 semifinal round. “The team is playing its best tennis at the end of the seasons, which is what all coaches like to see,” coach Jim Stone said. “The singles players won matches against players they lost to during the regular season and really stepped up during the sectional.”
The Rebels (8-10) competed in the Center Grove regional Tuesday, but results were unavailable at press time.
