The men’s basketball team from the University of Indianapolis split a pair of games last week in Missouri as the Greyhounds were upset 98-93 by Rockhurst before defeating William Jewell 96-89 in overtime.
Jimmy King (Roncalli) scored 10 points against Rockhurst. In the game against William Jewell, Joe Retic had a game-high 23 points. Jordan Loyd had 17 points, and Tyler Rambo and Alex Etherington added 16 points each. UIndy is now 18-5 for the season and in league play they are now 12-3.
The Greyhounds are 18-5 overall and 12-3 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference.
The lady Greyhounds (7-18, 5-10) played the same teams ... and the outcomes were the same – 70-67 and 56-54. Princess German scored 25 points against Rockhurt.
Both teams have away games at Lewis on Thursday and Wisconsin-Parkside on Saturday before closing out their seasons Saturday, Feb. 24, at home against St. Joseph’s.
The men’s team from Marian lost to Mount Vernon Nazarene 81-80 and to Spring Arbor 89-95. Senior Dwight Cliff scored 21 points and had eight rebounds against Mount Vernon, and freshman Wesley Stowers scored 31 in the Spring Arbor game.
The Knights (19-9, 7-9 Crossroads League) played their final home game of the regular season Tuesday against Grace College (result unavailable at press time).
