The noncompetitive 3-mile run kicks off the Community Fun Day aspect of the White River Festival, which runs Sept. 1-14. All ages and abilities are welcome, with registration available for teams, individuals, families and dogs beginning at 8:30 a.m.; the event starts at 10 a.m.
Advance registration is $20, $25 on-site, and everyone receives a T-shirt; children ages 6 and under can participate for free but don’t get a shirt. Parents and up to four children can register for $80, and a dog can join in the fun for $5. Info: www.whiteriverfestival.org.
Patrons are encouraged to come early for a free pedal boat ride on the canal and stay for post-race art and science activities, face painting and tours of the river bank.
The route will feature participants crossing the old Washington Street Bridge before heading south along the White River Greenway and turning around at the water stop. Following the same path back, the return trip offers a striking view of the city skyline.
