SOUTHSIDER VOICE PHOTO BY NATHAN PACE Lindsey Corsaro, a Roncalli senior, averages a double-double in points and rebounds and is a University of Kentucky recruit. She leads a talented field of local players.
PictureIndiana Basketball Hall of Fame coach Stan Benge returns to Roncalli for his third season. He coached Ben Davis to four state championships.
RONCALLI (18-7) – Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame coach Stan Benge begins third year with Rebels … 6-0 senior Lindsey Corsaro (22.4 ppg, 10.4 rpg), third team All-State … recovering from torn ACL … team returns with 81 percent of its scoring and 77 percent of its rebounding … 6-0 Daesjah Ely (IUPUI recruit) and Rachel Titzer combined for 16.5 ppg and 11.8 rebounds last year as juniors … Titzer was second in assists and steals … All-County guard Paige Saylor (10.8 ppg) returns … 5-8 junior Courtney Reece can play guard or forward … lots of depth with Center Grove transfer Ellie Bischoff, 5-4 Lauren Fey (5.1 points), 5-6 Gwen Woehler, 5-10 sophomore Katelyn McClary and 6-0 forward Sophie Daniel.

Coach’s comments: “We’re not an outstanding team right now. The girls have to understand roles, how to play hard and play together. We have great opportunities this season, but our schedule is so ridiculously tough (seven top-20 opponents). We can be one of the better teams at the end of the year; it depends on how we respond to the highs and lows. We want to be a team that takes pride in great defense. Physically, we can be as good on the boards as any team in the state. Offensively, we need to make good decisions so we are taking good shots every time down the floor in every game.”
