Perry Meridian’s senior standouts and captains took a break from preparing the Holder Field softball diamond for the new season. The girls are Destinee Miles, Megan Eder and infielder Taylor Lucid. Eder led the Falcons in batting average, runs, hits, RBIs and home runs.

Perry Meridian (12-13) returns with one of the state’s top players in senior Megan Eder with team highs of .408, 37 hits, 20 RBIs and seven homers. Eder was 9-8 on the mound with a 2.07 ERA. Classmates and tri-captains Destinee Miles, a speedy outfielder who is learning to hit left-handed, and third baseman Taylor Lucid provide experience.

The 4A Falcons also count on catcher Caitlyn Thomas (13 RBIs), Dayja Denson, who moves from second to shortstop, second baseman Kaitlynn Korth and first baseman Makiah Thomas.

“We lack a little bit of experience,” second-year coach Mandy Haberlin said. “We look solid up the middle (defense), but we have a lot of young players on defense. We have the potential to drive in runs.”
