Coach’s comments: “Coming off the summer, we still have question marks: here’s a returning starter and a kid who make a bunch of improvement; so, we’re going to see who wins the job. By the end of the season last year, we were playing about 16 key guys with some going both ways. We have more depth now. As coaches, we need to figure out who fits where and who serves the team best at which position. We don’t want to rely upon too many two-way starters if we can help it. All starters are back on the offensive line. We have experience with our defensive backs. We will have three linemen up front on defense so we can utilize our linebackers and d-backs. We had a great off-season in the weight room. We’ve got kids who push each other in practice. We’re asking these kids to get after it all the time – in the weight room, sprints, pressing the tempo to get closer to playing at their ceiling. The wins and losses will be what they are. We knew the Mid-State would be tough because of the history of the conference. And last year all those teams were really, really good.”
