GREENWOOD CHRISTIAN ACADEMY (1A, 19-7) – Cougars graduated four players who combined for 26.9 pointsand 18.9 rebounds .. had strong post with 5-10 center Sarah Mangan … Cougars have no seniors but coach Alan Weems has four returnees … young but well-seasoned team … leaders are junior point guard Alexis Mead (10.8 points, 2.9 assists), multitalented soph Izzy Reed (12.4 points, 8.4 rebounds) and 5-10 juniors Cameron Northern and Morgan Haynes … sophs playing above their years … Reed mature on court … Mead will go over 1,000 career points this season … guard Savannah Frye adds savvy … 5-10 junior Morgan Haynes and Katie Potter vastly improved .. Cougars rangy, tall, mobile, deep and play multi-positions … Cougars can score

Coach’s comments: “This is the most talented team we’ve had. They are very intelligent players who work very hard. To be frank, I don’t see any drop off from last year. Haynes and Katie Potter have had outstanding preseason practices. I feel good about where we’re at. I like our talent level, our enthusiasm, our strength – we will be able to play a different type of game than we did last year. We have seven kids who can really play. We will run. We will use our quickness and our length. I call it position-less basketball because they can handle the ball outside and take it inside. Reed can become our all-time scoring leader and our first all-stater; she has that ability. We should be able to score in different ways. We can compete for a conference crown.”
