Two former Southside high school standouts, Jonny Marlin of Indiana Wesleyan and Kyle Stidhom of Taylor University, recently earned honors.
Marlin (Center Grove) was named to the NAIA Division II All-American first team for the second straight year.
The senior guard was named the Most Outstanding Player in the national championship game after helping lead the Wildcats past St. Francis (Ind.) 69-66 with 10 points and four assists. Marlin, who received the 2016 Pete Maravich Award and averaged 14.5 points, 6.3 assists and 3.2 rebounds, is among 15 candidates for the Bevo Francis Award.
Stidhom (Greenwood Christian Academy) was an NAIA Division II honorable mention player and was named to the All-Crossroads League second team. The senior guard averaged 18.9 points and 6.1 rebounds. He is Taylor’s all-time leader in free throws and is Johnson County’s all-time career high school basketball scorer.
