Marian University’s women’s basketball team has won seven straight games to up its record to 15-3.
The Knights improved to 6-0 in the Crossroads Lead by defeating Bethel 64-61 and Spring Arbor (Michigan) 48-32 last week.
Roncalli graduate Kellie Kirkhoff scored 14 points and had four assists and two steals against Bethel. She scored seven points and had four steals in the Spring Arbor game.
The team hosts Mount Vernon Nazarene (Ohio) at 7 p.m. today and travels to Goshen College Saturday.
The men’s team (16-2, 4-1) split a pair of games last week, losing to Bethel 76-68 and defeating Spring Arbor 93-81.
Franklin Central graduate Dion Smith had 13 points, seven rebounds, six blocked shots and three steals against Bethel. He had his sixth double-double against Spring Arbor, scoring a game-high 27 point and snaring a game-high 15 rebounds.
The Knights played Mount Vernon on Tuesday (result unavailable at press time) and will host Goshen at 3 p.m. Saturday.
Closer to home, the men from the University of Indianapolis (10-2, 4-0 Great Lakes Valley Conference) boasts a nine-game winning streak after defeating Maryville (St. Louis) 82-75 and Missouri-St. Louis 79-68.
The squad has away games at Drury (Missouri) Jan. 14, Missouri University of Science & Technology Jan. 16 and St. Joseph’s Jan. 18.
The lady Greyhounds (3-11, 1-3) lost to Maryville 82-74 and defeated Missouri-St. Louis 64-55. They travel to Drury Jan. 14 and Missouri S&T Jan. 16.
