Manual trio may be young, but they have experience to lead the Redskins. They are, from left, junior wide receiver/linebacker Kenneth Lewis, sophomore quarterback De-fayebeon Pittman and junior wide receiver Chris Deel.
(5-5) – Coach Robert Orkman in fifth year … 3-1 at home … averaged 394 yards total offense per game … defense depleted by graduation … Redskins have lofty goals … look for spread offense led by 6-5 soph quarterback De-fayebeon Pittman (734 yards, 7 TDs) … running threats include senior Tyron Sanders and freshman Jermaine Thomas, but searching for depth … spotlight on o-line with seniors Elijah Johnson and Christian Mendoza, Elijah Cummins and yearling Coby Fugate as anchors … senior Robert Orkman top receiver with 6-5 Paul Thames at tight end and junior Chris Deel … senior linemen Will Hickman and Damonty Morton and junior Risque Belt lead defense with juniors, safety John Bravo and outside linebacker Kenneth Lewis … five home games at Ray Schultz Field capped with Noblesville.

Coach’s comments: “The last couple of years we have been a defensive minded team. This year we want to be an offensive driven team. We have a quarterback who knows the system and will surprise. We expect to be a 70-30 passing team instead of a 70-30 run team. We want to have an up-tempo offense that can move the chains. We’re not a ground-and-pound team. We have some good anchors on the offensive line, but we need to develop depth with our younger players. We are hoping that our front four on defense can hide some of our other weaknesses. We will have to show more blitzes. Our freshmen are invested in football and that should help them at the varsity level. We want to be able to break through that wall of .500 seasons and win first sectional game in 50 years.
