BEECH GROVE (7-5) – Won most games in a season since 2000 … rolled up 262 points during five-game winning streak … reached sectional championship game against powerhouse New Palestine … averaged 36.6 points per game, gave up 32.3 … coach Mark Weller’s teams have 14 wins in four years … junior QB Chase Andries (63.6 percent completions, 2,906 yards, 33 TDs) leads offense …  he’s worked more on his pocket presence, but his strength is getting to the outside … favorite receiver Jamal Brumfield (1,245 yards, 18 TDs) graduated … O-line has open spots that must be filled to protect QB … junior receivers Chance Littlejohn and Dylan Allen plus running back LaMonte Richardson (467 yards, six TDs) keep defenses guessing … front line of soph Isaiah Greene, junior Isaiah Hulse, senior Deryk Littlejohn, Lucas Clark and senior Shawn Goggans leads stronger defense … Andries will double at safety … linebacker spots up for grabs … Hornets travel just a few miles to Lutheran for Friday’s 7 p.m. opener.

Weller’s comments: “Last year was a great year for us against a tough schedule, and we reached a 4A sectional championship game.  Our goal is to keep it going. I think we’ll be exciting to watch again. We have a quarterback, Chase Andries, who can get the ball to our skill players. We could have a very good year on offense, but that depends on the guys up front.”
