The Woodmen defeated Monrovia 25-8, 25-19 before losing in three sets to 3A No. 18 New Palestine, the eventual champion. Greenwood defeated Scecina 25-17, 25-19 for third place.
Greenwood senior Olivia Stilley had 13 kills and sophomore Hanna Anderson had 23 assists against New Palestine.
Center Grove split its matches on Saturday by losing a five-set one to host 4A No. 3 Hamilton Southeastern and defeating Westfield in three sets. Madison Smeathers had 15 kills and Taylor Hammill had 19 digs for the 4A No. 6 Trojans against Westfield.
In a recent Southside duel, the Trojans defeated Perry Meridian in three sets with Devynn Merriman getting 19 digs and Smeathers 16 kills. Freshman Caitie Baird had 11 kills and Riley Taylor had 26 assists for the Falcons.
The Falcons upended 4A No. 16 Franklin Central last week 3-2, winning the final set 15-11. Baird led with 21 kills, junior Heather Corbin, 43 digs, and Taylor, 35 assists, for the Falcons. FC’s Madison Munger had 30 digs and 11 kills and Harper Wright had 27 digs.
Roncalli fell to Crown Point, 3A No. 20 Bellmont and 4A No. 13 Muncie Central before defeating Richmond 25-20, 25-22 Saturday at New Castle.
