Greenwood sophomore Allie Dalton won the girls 5K Mid-State Conference cross country championship at Franklin on Saturday, and junior Hunter Smith won the boys race for the Woodmen.
Dalton covered the distance in 18 minutes, 33.67 seconds and finished 16 seconds ahead of her nearest competitor. Classmate Krista Robinson (19:38.39) was fifth.
Smith finished in 16:17.33; teammate Zeke Niehart (17:29.05) was 10th.
The Woodmen were second to Franklin in both meets.
Center Grove’s girls and boys teams team placed third and fourth, respectively, in Saturday’s Metropolitan Interscholastic Conference meet.
Center Grove runners were second in each run. Griffin Miller was two seconds behind Solomon Rice of North Central, and Valerie Clark trailed Christina Geisler of Carmel by eight seconds. CG’s Grant Stapleton was eighth.
Southport’s Garkhov Kulia (16:55.95) was second in the 5K boys race Saturday at the Southport Invitational. The team finished fourth.
Southport’s girls team was seventh, led by Delaney Bucker in 22nd place with a time of 21:52.11.
