Greenwood has talent in sophomore pitcher Jordan Martin, junior second baseman Jarrett Caster, senior pitcher Reid Warner and sophomore catcher/infielder T.J. Bass.
Greenwood (14-13) – Coach Andy Bass has his fastest team ever … speed is in outfield with Rosado (.385, 20 runs), Reid Werner (.304), Daugherty (.390) and junior Connor Stout … top hitter Jarrett Caster (.481) returns at second … shortstop Damon Maynard hit .315, led team with 23 runs, 28 hits, and 18 RBIs … Werner (6-3, 2.45 ERA) leads pitching corps with Caster, Jordan Martin, Mason Stunick, Nick Slone and Preston Ley … catcher/third-baseman T.J. Bass and lefty first-baseman Jordan Gray add young bats … 4A Woodmen have home opener today against Mid-State foe Mooresville at 5:30 p.m.

Coach’s comments: “We have some guys who can run; probably the best team speed I’ve ever had. We have a lot of arms (pitchers) and some newcomers who can help us on the mound. We’re not going to be a team that hits a lot of home runs although we have four or five strong hitters. We have the power to hit the ball out but will rely on station-to-station baseball. We can advance runners. Defensively we have outfielders who can track down any fly ball that hangs up. If we stay away from nagging injuries, we can compete for Mid-State, county and sectional championships.”
