GREENWOOD (4A, 11-13) – Joe Bradburn takes helm after 28 years under Bruce Hensley … looking for first winning season since 2005-06 … graduated four seniors … wealth of talent remains … six seniors, three juniors and one soph … whooping 50 points per game returns with seniors in 6-3 Eric Moenkhaus, 17.5 points, 4.6 rebounds; rangy 6-6 Jeffrey Reynolds, 13.5, 5.4 rebounds; 6-2 Brayden Kincaid, 11.1 points, 4.8 rebounds; guard Max Raker, 7.2 points … Reynolds and Kincaid each hit over 50 percent of shots … 5-10 guards Isaiah Davis and Isaiah Drew bring some experience … newcomers Justin Johnson, Ian Raker and Devin Lester ready to fit in … learning new offense … aggressive on defense … must learn how to win … could be Southside’s surprise team … open against two Mid-State foes, Martinsville visits Friday and at Franklin, Dec. 8.

Coach’s comments: “I’m really excited how these guys came together during the summer. Now we’re piecing things together. I love the buzz, I love their energy. The football guys had a great year; we’re trying to get them in rhythm and feed off their success. I realize there is a margin for learning my system. We have maturity, seniors, some size and some speed. I’m hoping the maturation process will be faster than normal.

“We’ll be an aggressive team and utilize our depth, going eight or nine deep. Offensively we want to go inside-out, understanding that we need touches on the ball so we can get good shots. We want to stretch defenses. It’s all about understanding our strengths and executing. Every possession matters. We have good skills, good talent. If we can piece everything together, we’ll have a nice season.”
