The Flashes finished second behind champion North Central, 541-405, at the Lawrence North Sectional.
Schiffli won the 50-yard freestyle in 23.71 seconds and later dominated the 100 butterfly in 56.10 seconds, winning by 2.42 seconds.
The Flashes’ 400 medley and freestyle relays finished second but easily qualified for the state finals on their times.
FC trailed winner North Central in the opening medley relay by 13-hundredths of a second with juniors Abigail McCormick, Regan Schiffli, Schiffli and anchor Kathryn Matthies. The Flashes time of 3:40.26 qualified them for the 400 freestyle relay with Rachel Schiffli, sophomore Abbe Hershberger, Matthies and Regan Schiffli. Teammate Leah Tapp, 295.50 points, competed in Tuesday’s semistate action at Bloomington North.
At the Franklin Sectional, Center Grove senior diver Sarah Kempf claimed first place with 429.55 points. She and runner-up Jackson Faith of Greenwood, 408.20 points, and fourth-place Midori Adams of Perry Meridian competed in the semistate at Plainfield on Tuesday.
The top eight divers from each semistate – results unavailable at press time – qualify for Saturday’s state finals
