The annual Marion County girls basketball tourney opens at 7 p.m. Tuesday at eight sites.
Games with Southside teams include Lawrence Central at Perry Meridian in an upper bracket contest, Franklin Central at Lutheran, Southport at Decatur Central, Ben Davis at Roncalli and Beech Grove at Park Tudor.
Quarterfinals are Dec. 11 at different sites; the semifinals and championship game are Dec. 13 at Ben Davis.
In games on Friday at 7:30 p.m., Perry Meridian (3-2) visits Franklin Central (3-1), and Eminence (0-5) is at Greenwood Christian (3-1). Saturday’s key games see Greenwood (3-3) at Martinsville (3-3) for a 1:30 p.m. tip and Manual (4-2) at Christel House Academy (0-2) at 7:30 p.m. Greenwood is coming off two disappointing Johnson County tourney losses and a 63-40 spanking Saturday at No. 8 Mooresville.
Center Grove has opened with a five-game winning streak as the Trojans easily upended host Decatur Central 64-19 Saturday. Coach Shawn Sanders’ squad has outscored its opponents by an average of 71.8-29.2.
