Greenwood Christian Academy junior Allie Dalton dominated the Franklin Invitational girls cross-country championship Saturday, covering the 5K distance in 18 minutes, 21.81 seconds.
Dalton’s finished one minute, 13 seconds ahead of runner-up Emma Brock of Seymour. Her sister and teammate, Lauren, was 47th. The Daltons transferred from Greenwood High after running there for two years.
In the boys meet, Greenwood’s Hunter Smith (16:33.08) was a close runner-up to Cole Chuddy of Brown County. The Woodmen were second to Franklin, 49-84. Roncalli, led by Michael Schiefelbein’s 20th-place finish (17:40.88), was eighth.
Beech Grove’s boys team was seventh Saturday in the Danville Hokum Karem. The Hornets’ best finish in the two-runner relay was 14th with Brian Davids (16:24) and Vilis Vuskalns (15:47).
