Franklin Central (7-16) – Coach John Rockey reloads after losing nine players to graduation … seven seniors bring experience … Ben McKenzie solid at shortstop … catcher Cole Humphrey returns with most RBIs … must lean on pitchers early with seniors Bailey Buescher (1-3), Austin Guisinger (1-1) and Alec Bryan plus junior Josh Hammond and newcomer Noah Weeks … pitchers must improve on last year’s 5.63 ERA … they will play in outfield when not pitching … Bryan led in stolen bases with six … base hits needed from Bryce Utterback, utility player Eric Rigsby and infielder Chris Ford … 4A Flashes open at home against Grandville (Mich.) Friday at 5 p.m.

Coach’s comments: “We will be tested early in the season. We have to get our earned run average down and develop consistency with our pitching. We have two left handers who can keep us in some games. Most of our seniors are good, solid contact hitters, but we will have to string hits together to score runs. I don’t think we will hit the long ball very much. We will be solid defensively up the middle, but the corners are wide open. We have four quality outfielders who can cover ground.”
