Four runners from the Southside will compete in the cross-country state finals Saturday afternoon at the LaVerne Gibson Championship Course in Terre Haute.
The runners qualified by finishing in the top 10 among those who were not on a qualified team at the Shelbyville Semistate. The boys run at 1 p.m., the girls at 1:45 p.m. Admission is $10.
Franklin Central junior Jada Reedus (18 minutes, 34.1 seconds) is the lone female qualifier from the area after finishing 15th in the field of 182.
The boys state finalists are (semistate finish and time): Michael Crook, Southport, 7th, 15:40.5; Christopher Switzer, Perry Meridian, 16th, 15:53.2; and Nicholas Perkins, Roncalli, 22nd, 16:04.1.
Center Grove was ninth with 287 points, led by Archit Malik, 41st; Southport, 10th; Franklin Central, 12th, Jackson Andry, 52nd; Roncalli, 13th; and Perry Meridian, 15th. Greenwood’s Ethan Pine was 36th.
In the girls meet, Franklin Central was seventh with 195 points; Southport 13th, led by Lexie Green, 64th; and Center Grove 17th, led by Victoria Martin, 86th.
