Franklin Central and Roncalli reached the semifinals of the Marion County girls basketball tourney before falling to ranked opponents Saturday at Lawrence Central.
The Flashes ran into North Central for the second time this season and lost 76-44; Roncalli fell to Lawrence North 50-39, never recovering from the Wildcats’ 18-5 first-quarter lead.
The Flashes had a horrendous start and fell behind 29-12. FC senior Andrea Adams finished with 11 points and sophomore Katy Larson added 10; Madison Potts had six rebounds. The Flashes, who committed 29 turnovers, lost 72-36 to the Panthers last month in the season opener for both teams.
FC entered the tourney with only one win but dominated Park Tudor 84-21 and Perry Meridian 59-32 to reach the semifinals.
Against Park Tudor, Potts put up 27 points and grabbed a dozen rebounds; Alexus Mobley scored 17 and Larson and Sammi Wessel each scored 11. The Flashes led 42-14 and coasted to their second win.
Potts, 14 points and nine rebounds, and Larson, 11 points and seven rebounds, led the Flashes against Perry Meridian, which hit a cold 25 percent from the field. Senior Sadie Hill had 10 points for the Falcons. The Flashes led 31-17 at the half.
Roncalli upended Warren Central 55-53 in a tourney opener. Sophomore Alana Vinson led the way with 23 points, and senior Elle Bischoff added 14, hitting 4-of-8 3-pointers. The Rebels fought the Warriors evenly on the boards, 23-23.
The Rebels easily advanced to the semis for the fifth straight year by defeating Lutheran 60-35. The Saints only trailed 30-23 halftime, but the Rebels outscored them 30-12 in the second half. Bischoff and freshman sister Maddie Bischoff combined for 34 points for Roncalli.
Southport and previously unbeaten Beech Grove fell in first-round games.
