Perry Meridian wrestlers captured 10 individual championships Saturday as the Falcons dominated an eight-team field for their 14th consecutive Conference Indiana trophy.
The Falcons wound up with 301.5 points with Franklin Central, led by 160-pound champion DeRon Young, second with 199 points; Southport was seventh with two runners-up and its 78 points.
The No. 2 state-ranked Falcons wound up with 11-of-14 wrestlers in championship matches. Coach Jim Tonte’s grapplers previously won the Marion County tournament and finished second in the state team championships.
Perry Meridian’s Brandon James pinned Franklin Central’s Chris Vaughn (23-4) after 2 minutes and 55 seconds in the 138-pound title bout to remain unbeaten in 30 matches this season. James advanced to the title match after pinning Shane Ping of Southport and Braden Hinckley of Columbus North.

• 106 – Sunny Nier (21-3) defeated Tyler Rhoades (Southport, 30-7) by technical fall.
• 113 – Jack Servies (27-5) defeated Darin Pemberton (Terre Haute South, 28-6) 2-0.
• 120 – Cornelius Elliot (29-1) defeated Dameion Rutledge (Southport, 33-5) 11-6.
• 126 – Ngun Uk (29-1) defeated Dalton Hair (Franklin Central, 29-4) 6-3.
• 145 – Noah Warren (28-2) defeated Thomas Dull (Terre Haute North, 19-4) 8-6.
• 152 – Brett Johnson (29-1) defeated Alex Davidson (Columbus North, 19-19) by fall, 1:07.
• 195 – Tristen Tonte (29-1) defeated Zack Wade (Bloomington North, 16-18) by fall, 2:47.
• 220 – Blake Schjoll (16-1) defeated Abel Rivera (Terre Haute North, 20-6) 9-7.
• 285 – Chris Ridle (26-7) defeated Conor Dwyer (Terre Haute North, 22-6) by fall 1:26.
FC’s Young (29-2) won the 160-pound championship in a tense 2-1 win over Perry Meridian’s Garret Milner. The Flashes had two more runners-up: Jordan Vaughn (29-3) lost to Bloomington South’s Griffen Shermer (29-3) in the 132-pound final 7-6, and Bloomington North’s Hunter Dalton (31-2) pinned Josh Torres (23-9) after 2 minutes, 21 seconds.
Beech Grove champions
Beech Grove scored 153 points and was second to Monrovia (210.5 points) in the Indiana Crossroads Conference championships Saturday.
Sophomore Kody Conaway (24-4) defeated Monrovia’s Brycen Denny (16-6) 10-5 for the 106-pound title. Freshman Ethan Smiley (27-3) took the 113-pound class crown by pinning Monrovia’s Austin Clark (14-8), and senior Evan Smiley (28-3) won the 145-pound title in overtime with a 5-3 decision against Trevor Ellis (16-6) of Monrovia.
Greenwood fifth
Greenwood was fifth Saturday in the seven-team Mid-State Conference championships at Franklin, where the Woodmen had two runners-up.
Decatur Central’s Kadin Poe defeated Keaghan Overton in the 113-pound final, and Franklin’s Quinn York defeated Gavin Fugua in the heavyweight match.
Franklin won the title with 222.5 points; Greenwood had 140.
