Center Grove’s girls golf team and Greenwood’s Hannah Cross have qualified for the state tournament at Prairie View Golf Club in Carmel. Tee times are 8:30 a.m. Friday and Saturday.
Led by Shelby Schier’s 7-over 79 at Smock Golf Course, Center Grove placed third with a 334 to become the last team to qualify from the Roncalli Regional on Saturday. Champion Carmel, 312, and runner-up Westfield, 318, secured the other berths.
Schier will be joined by teammates Sydney Abbott, who shot an 83, and Raquel Helton, Hannah Wilson and Marrisa Anderson, each 86. Schier had a 40 on the front nine with two birdies and a 39 on the back nine with a birdie and four pars.
Cross shot a 5-over 77 at the New Castle Regional at the Westfield Golf Club. She eagled the par-5 second hole and had a birdie and five pars. She qualified by winning a playoff against Yorktown’s Morgan Clark.
At Smock, Roncalli was 11th with 366 strokes and Perry Meridian was 14th, 369 strokes. Kristin Foresman led Roncalli with an 80 that featured a birdie and eight pars. Perry’s Kayla Benge recorded one birdie and nine pars en route to a 79.
Franklin Central’s Grace Phillippe fired a 104, and Southport’s Htay Ni Suh shot a 105 at Smock.
