CENTER GROVE (13-10) – Former Butler standout player Zach Hahn returns to coach for second year … won six of first eight games and 13 overall en route to defeating four ranked teams ... lost seven seniors ... disappointing loss in sectional opener … look for a taller, quicker, more physical team … returning seniors are guards, 5-10 Trevor Brown (4.0 points per game) and Bailey Barrett (3.4 ppg) and 6-6 forward Bryce Brown (4.0 ppg) … lots of new faces show promise … mix of  juniors, 6-5 Parker Ferguson and Davis Roehling; sophomores, 6-4 Joey Klausen and 6-2 Nate McLain; and freshmen, 6-6 Trace Jackson-Davis and 6-5 Lucas Doyle … Trojans want to improve on 1-6 Metropolitan Interscholastic Conference record … sophomores and freshmen must develop quickly … Trojans open at New Palestine Dec. 4.

Coach’s comments: “I don’t ever believe in the word ‘rebuilding’ because it doesn’t give respect to the kids who are still here and who have put in a year’s worth of offseason workouts and practice. We are off to a great start practicewise. We are ahead of where we were last season because the kids know the drills and everything. We have our No. 1 and No. 2 guards and post players back. The seniors have done a great job in communicating with the younger players in a positive way. We are longer and more athletic at most positions. Our defensive system takes a while to get used to. I think we can have an exceptional team. We’ve got the talent this year to win ball games. If we win all the games were supposed to, and a few that we’re not, then we will have a good year.”
