Friday night was a tough outing for Perry Township schools in the Marion County Tournament semi-finals hosted at Southport.
Southport fell in a tight contest with Lawrence North 53-52. The Cardinals overcame a 31-19 halftime deficit to take a 52-51 lead in the final minute. The Wildcats would score giving the Cardinals a final chance to take back the lead in regulation. Southport's junior guard Paul Scruggs would hit a lay-up but it was a second after the clock expired as Lawrence North held on. Southport did outscore the Wildcats in the second half 33-22 and overcame most of the deficit in the fourth quarter.
The other semi-final went Pike's way early, as it jumped on Perry Meridian to take a double-digit lead in the first quarter. Pike would win 77-32. Pike will play Lawrence North Saturday night in the title game.
