Beech Grove freshman sensation Cameron Cardenas led the Hornets in the Indiana Crossroads Conference meet May 8 by winning three events. He won the 100 in 13 flat and the 200 in 26.82, 2.76 seconds ahead of freshman runner-up Hanna Shafique of Park Tudor, and the 400 in just a tick over 1 minute.
Hornet junior Kristan Folks brought home first place in the pole vault with a height of 7 feet, 6 inches.
BG junior Kyli Luna was second in the 800 (2:37.17); freshman Katie Giller was fourth in long jump (14:01.50).
Beech Grove was third with 79 points. Monrovia captured five events and the title.
In the boys meet, Hornet senior Jason Smith won the 1,600 by 3.21 seconds.
The Hornets’ 4-by-800 relay of sophomores Brian Davids and Mason Darling, junior Randall Gindling and Smith was second. Davids was third in pole vault.
BG finished fourth with 72 points: Ritter won the championship
