A defensive back at the Division III school, Crook is the son of Wendell and Marilee Crook and a 2011 graduate of Beech Grove. He was honored Dec. 17 during a banquet in Dearborn, Mich.
Presented by the Michigan chapter of the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame, the award is named in honor of the late Morley Fraser, who was a longtime football coach at Albion and an advocate for the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association.
Crook was also one of the 25 players chosen for the Capital One Academic All-America team.
Hope coach Dean Kreps said he “has not had a player more deserving of the Academic All-American recognition than Kirby, who truly exemplifies what Hope football is all about.
“He is a great student, a great athlete and, most of all, a great person. Kirby has been stellar on the field as well as off. He led the MIAA in interceptions per game. This is a well-deserved honor for a great young man.”
