“Swish for Rish,” a benefit basketball game for the family of the late Beech Grove High School student David Rish, will be held Friday, May 2 at 6 p.m. in the school’s gymnasium. Rish, who was a freshman, died earlier this month due to complications of numerous health issues.
The Hornets, a team consisting of senior boys and girls from the varsity squads, will face the faculty all-stars of teacher-coaches Garrett Daniel, Anthony Osborne, Jim Cross and Lindsey Hall, band director Corey Wynn and Beech Grove Middle School coach Amy Parker.
The student team features Michael Jennings, Caleb Chumley, Joe Cardenas, Jalen Dyson, Zach Zoellner, Joe Pich, Kayla Kaiser, Taylor Peavey and Shannon Newerth.
According to athletic director/boys basketball coach Matt English, many students came to him with a request for a special game in honor of Rish and to raise much-needed funds for the family.
The admission price has not been established.
