Center Grove, Roncalli, Greenwood Christian and Lutheran won sectional baseball titles Monday.
No. 12 and host Center Grove (23-3) edged Greenwood 5-2 in a Class 4A extra-inning for the Trojans’ second straight sectional trophy under coach Keith Hatfield. CG’s Michael Wyman broke the 2-2 tie with a two-run single in the eighth. Greenwood left two runners stranded in the bottom of the eighth.
Roncalli (19-9) pounded out a five-inning 10-0 shutout against Decatur Central for its 12th sectional title and first under coach Aaron Krull. The Rebels scored seven runs in the first inning on home runs by Nick Schnell, Cody Smith and Tyler Lucas.
Lutheran (15-7) claimed its fourth straight Class A sectional by defeating host Bethesda Christian 10-0. The Saints downed Sheridan 6-1 and University 8-2 on their way to their 10th sectional trophy.
Greenwood Christian (15-7) captured its third consecutive sectional with a six-inning 11-1 triumph against Waldron in the Class A sectional at Morristown. The Cougars’ Nolan Check threw a two-hitter and struck out 12.
In 4A regionals Saturday, Roncalli meets Lawrence North at 1 p.m. at Decatur Central, and Center Grove travels to Evansville Reitz to meet Bloomington South at 1 p.m.
In the Class A regional at Morristown, Greenwood Christian opens against No. 12 Jac-Cen-Del at 11 a.m., and Lutheran faces Clay City at 1 p.m.
Championship games are Saturday at 8 p.m.
