Center Grove’s Mallory Baker shares Miss Indiana Softball honors with Portage pitcher Kiley Jones.
Baker, who led the 29-2 Trojans to a sixth Class 4A state championship, follows in the footsteps of CG pitcher Darcey Wood, who was the school’s first Miss Indiana Softball in 2004. The awards were presented by the Indiana Coaches of Girls Sports prior to the recent North-South All-Star softball game.
Baker, who hit .378 in 2014, climbed to .560 last season, hit six home runs, drove in 43 runs and scored 39 runs. She had four hits in the Trojans’ come-from-behind 8-7 sectional championship win over New Palestine.
Baker, who will play at Purdue, and Roncalli’s Megan Choinacky were named by the state coaches to the All-State team. Roncalli’s Olivia Hoffman and Perry Meridian’s Megan Eder were named to the All-District team.
