Graduated pitchers Jake Sprinkle of Franklin Central and Jay Prior of Center Grove are on the Indiana High School Baseball Coaches Association South All-Star team, which meets the North All-Stars Saturday and Sunday in Richmond.
Sprinkle was one of the mound mainstays on a deep Franklin Central pitching corps under coach John Rockey. Sprinkle was 6-0 for the Flashes (21-7) and posted an impressive 1.02 ERA while carrying a .308 batting average.
Prior helped to lead Center Grove to an 18-10 record under first-year coach Keith Hatfield.
Flashes pitcher Kevin Hammond has been honored as a first team member on the All-State academic team.
The annual All-Star weekend schedule features a double-header Saturday at 2:20 p.m., and a single game Sunday at 12:20 p.m. at McBride Stadium, home of the Pioneer League Richmond RiverRats.
Sprinkle and Prior, also named as honorable mention players on the association’s 4A All-State team, are joined on the South squad by Nick McCormick, Speedway, first base; Harry Shipley, Cathedral, infielder; and Roman Baisa, North Central, outfielder.
The association also honored three Lutheran High players on the Class A All-Star team: first baseman Eli Goff, outfielder Addison Robertson and Seth Hougeson, honorable mention.
