He was a letter recipient in golf and baseball and a member of the National and Spanish honor societies, International Club, Spell Bowl, Brain Game, Academic Team and Purdue Summer Research Camp. Sloan, who’s seen with his mom, Mrs. Sloan, and real estate agent David Brenton, will study biology at Butler. Brenton awarded two other scholarships and commented that he and his agents enjoy being part of the community.

Southsider Voice correspondent Graduated pitchers Jake Sprinkle of Franklin Central and Jay Prior of Center Grove are on the Indiana High School Baseball Coaches Association South All-Star team, which meets the North All-Stars Saturday and Sunday in Richmond. Sprinkle was one of the mound mainstays on a deep Franklin Central pitching corps under coach John Rockey. Sprinkle was 6-0 for the Flashes (21-7) and posted an impressive 1.02 ERA while carrying a .308 batting average. Prior helped to lead Center Grove to an 18-10 record under first-year coach Keith Hatfield. Flashes pitcher Kevin Hammond has been honored as a first team member on the All-State academic team. The annual All-Star weekend schedule features a double-header Saturday at 2:20 p.m., and a single game Sunday at 12:20 p.m. at McBride Stadium, home of the Pioneer League Richmond RiverRats. Sprinkle and Prior, also named as honorable mention players on the association’s 4A All-State team, are joined on the South squad by Nick McCormick, Speedway, first base; Harry Shipley, Cathedral, infielder; and Roman Baisa, North Central, outfielder. The association also honored three Lutheran High players on the Class A All-Star team: first baseman Eli Goff, outfielder Addison Robertson and Seth Hougeson, honorable mention. |
