MELISSA A. BAILEY, 47, father and stepmother, James and Patricia Bailey; brothers Eric (Amy) and Nicky (Emily) Bailey; stepsiblings, Kathryn (Randy) Lucero, Brendan Moran.
Melissa enjoyed scrapbooking, The Office, family game nights, planning the annual family Christmas gathering, spending time with her nephews.
She worked many years for the Marion County Assessor’s Office and the Center Township Trustee’s Office.

RUTH M. OHLEYER BINDNER, 98, widow of Harry Bindner; children, Kathleen Pierce, Marjorie Lowe, Mary Jane (John) Gunter, Michael (Joan) and Stephen (Kathy) Bindner; 15 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren.
Ruth graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1943. She was active in the Marion County Association for the Mentally Handicapped and the Noble Volunteer League. She enjoyed gardening and playing golf.
Ruth will be remembered for her lifelong devotion to her family and her parish community including Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She was very proud of her Southside heritage.

KEVIN LEE COX, 47, parents, Jerry and Donna Cox; sister, Kristin (Chris) Wood.
Kevin was a graduate of Warren Central High School and Olivet Nazarene University.
He enjoyed spending time in the outdoors, especially in Colorado and Utah. Hiking, biking, ATV/UTV trail riding, camping, whitewater rafting and in the winter ski biking. Kevin was often joined in these activities by his uncle Stan and his friends.

RONALD E. DONOVAN, 89, wife, Charlene; children Scott (Cathy), Steve (Dena), Phil (Becky), Carol Bishop (John); nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.
Ron worked at Eli Lilly & Co. as a sales representative retiring in 1992 after 30 years.
Ron was a member of Southport Methodist Church. He enjoyed boating, fishing, and camping. His passion for IU Basketball and “The General” Bob Knight, was unmatched.
Graveside services at Washington Park East, 12 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 30, 2023. A celebration of life follows at the Fatima Event Center until 3 p.m.

BETH ANN DRISTAS, 58, husband, Christopher Dristas; daughters, Raegan (Nathaniel) Dristas-Otley and Maeci Dristas; one grandson; siblings, Bobbie Lemmons, Sandy (Steve) Furman, Patty (Jerry) Masty, Janet (George) Bozak, Jerry (Kathy), Ray (Judy), and Ron (Dawn) Wojkovich.
Beth was a very talented interior designer. She was a long-time member of St. Jude Catholic Church.
Beth enjoyed working with St. Vincent De Paul. She could be found helping in the family business at Churchman Animal Hospital PC. She was an accomplished slalom water skier, painter, gardener and cook.

MARGIE JO EWING, 68, husband, Marty Ewing; sisters, Sherrie Wilson and Sandi Hammer; mother-in-law, Leila Ewing; sisters-in-law, Kathy Jackson and Debbie Ewing; brother-in-law, Steve Ewing.
Margie enjoyed family, TV, movies, and Christian evangelical programs. Margie was extremely outspoken about her faith and the power of prayer which sustained her during her illness.

FRANCES “FRANNY” FLYNN, 57, husband, Tom Flynn; daughter, Nicole Flynn (Zachary).
Franny was a vet assistant for 30 years, dedicating her life to caring for animals and providing support to their owners. She was known for her willingness to go above and beyond to help others.
Franny’s warm and welcoming personality made her the go-to person for everyone. She had a special ability to make everyone feel special and loved. Her dedication to volunteering her time and efforts to those in need touched the lives of many.
A memorial took place at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Home.
RITA JO GRIDER, 80, husband, Stephen Grider; sister, Jane Jagoditz; brother-in-law, Jim Grider.
Rita was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church. She worked for 37 years in housekeeping at St. Paul Hermitage. Rita loved playing cards and enjoyed working crosswords and puzzles. She also enjoyed the many travel destinations that she and Stephen visited together.
Visitation will be Tuesday, October 3, 2023 from 9 a.m. until the Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Jude Catholic Church.

LISA RAE GUIGNARD, 61, life partner, Richard Guignard; children, Douglas Spegal, Jr. (girlfriend, Sara), Elisha Garner (Joe); siblings, Mike, Roger, and Tammy Wasson, Marnisa “Marni” Haltom, Tom Hendrickson; three grandsons.
She served her family as a homemaker. Lisa graduated from Franklin Central High School in 1981 and earned her nursing degree from Ivy Tech. Her hobbies included crafting, boating and camping. She enjoyed playing table games, cards, Yahtzee and Aggravation. She loved her family, her cats, the Colts and listening to music.

JOHN PATRICK HANLEY, 63, son, Kai (Rei) Hanley; father, Thomas Hanley; siblings, Tom (Mary Beth), Mary, Mark (Laura), Eileen and Patty Hanley.
John was a graduate of Roncalli High School, class of 1978. He did radon testing and was the owner of Radon John. He loved driving between jobs listening to music or NPR while enjoying the scenery. He was personable and hard to forget. He loved music, sports and enjoyed life to the fullest. He was everyone’s favorite.

THOMAS R. PLAHITKO, 66, former wife, Denise (Don) Castle; children, Tommy (Delaina), Nate (Paula), Timmy (Jasmine) and Jamie Plahitko; six grandchildren; siblings, Michael, David, Rob (Susan) Plahitko, and Jody (Terry) Akers.
Tom worked as a Tool Designer for Allison Transmission for over 12 years.
He was a sports enthusiast and especially loved IU Basketball. Tom was a long-time member of Holy Name Catholic Church for many years.

ROBERT FORD PORTER, 96, widower of Patty; children, Mark (Carol), Mary Esther (Jack), Beth, Barth (Brenda); eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren.
He accepted Christ as his Savior at a young age, graduated from Arsenal Technical High School and immediately entered the U.S. Army where he served in the Army of Occupation in Germany as a chaplain’s assistant in WWII.
Robert worked with his father at Berean Gospel Distributors. He became lifelong friends with Walter E. Best, the owner of Best Lock Corporation. He was a pilot with a commercial rating and owned a Taylorcraft airplane. His interests were tennis, table tennis, flying, woodworking, astronomy, and stamp collecting.
Robert served in the church with his father Ford, the founding pastor.

STEVEN RICHARD SAGERS, 70, sister, Peggy Kennedy; daughter, Nikki.
Steven attended Manuel High School and served in the U.S. Air Force as a sergeant for four years during Vietnam. His career in controls started at Honeywell and on to Jackson Controls for 30 years.

EVA LOUISE SCALF, 91, widow of Charles Scalf; children, Roy (Betty) and Mike Scalf (Mary), Deborah Williams, Pam Purdue, Cheryl Gribble; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren.
Eva retired after 15 years of service as treasurer with the School District of Perry Township. Prior to this Eva served as treasurer of the Keystone Middle School and worked in the clearing department at American Fletcher National Bank.

THERESA E. SPRINGMAN, 92, widow of LeRoy “Chick” Springman; children, Susie (Mike) Nehez, Anne (Terry) Renton, Clare (Louie) Bowser, Teri (Dave) Mackey, Luke (Lydia), Matt (Kathy), Mark (Tammy), and John Springman; 17 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren.
She loved her career as a Discussion Leader for Weight Watchers and spent many years helping others in this capacity. She volunteered at St. Roch Catholic Church where she was a long-time parishioner.
Theresa loved to travel the world with family and friends. She was kind, loving, and humble.

GRANT WILLIAM STAPLETON, 26, wife, Illiana “Illy” Harris; parents, Beth Stapleton and William “Ray” Stapleton; brother, Conner Stapleton (partner, Hannah Scheller); grandmother, Phyllis Pezzullo.
He poured his heart and soul into his track career. His relentless pursuit of greatness earned him the distinction of being a Big East finalist and medal winner.
Grant worked as a software engineer for Vergence Group, where he utilized his exceptional coding skills. He possessed a kind and compassionate nature.
He loved horror movies, sports, music and concerts.
A celebration of Grant’s life will take place at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Home Greenwood Chapel, Sunday, Oct.1 at noon with a gathering following the service until 4 p.m.
