​Laurella “Lolly” Heath Rieck, age 100, Indianapolis passed away April 11, 2019.
She was born in Keokee, Virginia, December 31, 1918 to the late Elmer and Pearl Cox Heath and attended Broad Ripple High School. She then married John W. Rieck in 1941 and they shared 77 wonderful years together. He survives. Lolly was a homemaker with a fond love for cooking, sewing, reading and an amazing memory until her passing.
She was a devout Christian and enjoyed her Bible study as well as being a Sunday School teacher. She was a member of St. Johns United Church of Christ. She is preceded in death by son Lowell W. and two daughters Lois Jean Rieck and Jacqueline “Jackie” Rieck; siblings, Robert Heath,Evelyn Haynes, Virginia Trimble, Elmer Heath, sisters, Blanch Garrison and Grace Robbins. A special thanks to Julie her caregiver and dear friend Melissa.
Services were handled through G.H. Herrmann Madison Avenue Funeral Home, 5141 Madison Ave. and she was laid to rest at Greenwood Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bell Choir at St. Johns United Church of Christ, 7031 S. East St., Indianapolis, IN 46227. ​Lt. Colonel Ret. USAF, STEPHEN WILLIAM HADLEY, 73, went to sing with Jesus Thursday, April 11, 2019. Steve will be deeply missed by his family and friends for his loving, encouraging and positive energy, community engagement and his song.
He is the grandson of Levi J. Hadley (Ida Foudray) and Earl (Pop) Kiger (Sadie Machlan). He is the son of Stephen C. Hadley (Mary Kathryn Kiger). He was born June 22, 1945, and raised in Indianapolis.
Steve was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity and served as Group Commander of Air Force ROTC at DePauw University, class of 1967. Steve faithfully served his country for 27 years through active duty and the Air Force Reserve. Steve praised his Lord and Savior at Center United Methodist Church where he served as Lay Leader through several terms and sang in the baritone row.
In addition to his best friend and wife, Jill Peace Hadley, “Poppy” is survived by his proud children Amy, Tom (Shane), Ann, Andee (Kevin) Buergelin and Eric Himes; 13 beautiful grandchildren; his sister Cynthia (James) Roderick; nieces Tracey and Kathy; and Kiger cousins.
Services will be held at 11a.m., Friday, April 19, at Flanner Buchanan-Washington Park North, 2706 Kessler Boulevard West Drive, Indianapolis, with visitation Thursday, April 18, 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Steve’s honor to NAMI Indiana or Southport Key Club.
