Neidra Yvonne Hammersley (Miller) passed away on January 19, 2023, at 89 years old. She was born on October 23, 1933, in Indianapolis, to Maud and Rella Miller. She was raised on the southside of Indianapolis with her sister Nancy Jenke (Miller) and graduated from Southport High School in 1951. Neidra was active in many social clubs. She was a charter member of the Greenwood Moose Lodge, in her church’s choir, a senior participant in Beta Sigma Phi, a founding representative of The Hardegan Street Bunch, and an active socialite of the Red Hat Society. She met her soul mate, Don Hammersley, in the USO at Fort Benjamin Harrison. The couple married on May 6, 1956. They bought a home in Greenwood where they raised their two children and resided their entire lives. Don and Neidra enjoyed traveling. Their favorite destinations included Don´s hometown of Emporium Pennsylvania, Walt Disney World, and Florida Beaches. The couple was known for their lavish modes of transportation including the yellow boat, convertible, and multiple family vans. Neidra was incredibly creative. Her hobbies included planning parties, crafting, taking pictures, scrapbooking, and video recording every adventure. Early on, she showcased her design skills as an employee of the Perry Township Weekly.
Neidra is survived by her two children, Rick (Linda) Hammersley and Lynne (Matt Itce) Grimm; her five grandchildren, Josh (Leah) Hammersley, Amanda (Jim Sindric) Hammersley, Ashley (Bryant) Moorehouse, Brittany (Chris) Johnson, Ryan (Taylor) Grimm; as well as her 10 great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held at Singleton & St. Pierre Funeral Home, 7602 Madison Ave., Indianapolis, IN 46227, from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. on Friday, January 27, 2023. A funeral service will immediately follow the visitation. Burial will take place at Greenwood Cemetery.

LINDA M. BELL, 75, children, Tammy Robbins and Billy Bell; six grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; siblings, Carolyn Cox, Debbie Staples and Chuck Parsley.
Linda loved her family, Elvis, playing Yahtzee, crocheting and working in the garden. She was an amazing Mom, sister, grandma and aunt. Everyone loved to be around her.

LINCOLN RAY DOLLAHAN, infant, Lincoln was the best son in the world, born May 23, 2022. He was such a happy soul filled with so much joy. He never left his brother’s side. He always had a smile on his face and always flirted with the girls. He enjoyed watching Bluey with his baby brother and that will forever be his favorite show. When his daddy went to work he would want to call him at work every shift. Since day one he and his brother fought so hard and pulled through due to being very premature.

NANCY JO JOHNSON, 73, son, Randall Stansbury (Stacey); three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother, Bill Losh (Carol).
Nancy worked at Kennedy Tank but later became a businesswoman, specializing in antiques and jewelry. She loved the hunt for treasures at garage sales, estate sales. She loved to spend time with her grandson Dominic, and Mariah and Adyson on her girly days. She loved spending time working in her yard and flower beds. Her grandchildren loved her dearly.

Born January 12, 2023 at 3.5 pounds, Scarlett will be forever remembered, loved and cherished by her parents, brother and a host of family and friends.

ROBERT FRANCIS LESLIE, 83, widower of Phyllis Leslie; sons, Kevin (Laura) and, Kyle Leslie; four grandchildren; siblings, Mike Leslie and Judy Lindner.
Robert was a woodworker for many years and was a part of Circle City Wood Carvers and the Southside Art League. He once carved a life-size bald eagle and donated it to the City of Indianapolis. It now resides at the visitor center at Eagle Creek Park. Robert was a Johnson County Sheriff’s Deputy in the corrections division for several years. One of the most important things to his sons was he never missed a sporting event they had while growing up. He was always there for them.
Visitation will be Wednesday, January 18, 2023, 6-8 p.m. at Indiana Funeral Care, Greenwood Chapel. Memorial service begins at 8 p.m.

SALLY AGNES CRAWFORD MCCARTHY, 81, widow of Robert; children, Timothy (Melinda), Michael (Kathy), Christopher (Jane), Kathleen (Michael) Haberthy; seven grandchildren.
After 10 years of raising children as a stay-at-home mom, Sally went to work for the Indianapolis Industrial Clinic, where she was employed (under several ownership name changes) for 39 years. She was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church, and mentored those entering the Catholic Church for over 25 years. She also stayed active watching her children and grandchildren play many sports. Sally loved traveling with Bob and traveled to all 50 states by land, water, air and rail.

KAREN SUE MILLER, 56, mother, Wanda Jean Rhoades; sister, Shelley (Bill) Martin.
She was a 1984 graduate of Perry Meridian High School and received her Associate’s degree from Indiana University of Indianapolis. She was also pursuing continued college classes to further her education. Karen had been the Senior Lead of Jewelry Operations for Sak’s 5th Avenue, Lavergne, Tennessee.
Karen Sue’s faith was always first and foremost in her life.

JACQUELINE M. PIERSON, 92, widow of H. Gene Pierson; children, Debra Cutter (Michael), Dana Heid (Gerry), Dan Pierson (Rena) and Dawn Bartolovich (John); 12 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren.
She graduated from Southport High School and Methodist Hospital Nursing School. Jacqueline worked as a Registered Nurse. She was a member of The Rosedale Hills United Methodist Church, as well as the Red Hat Society.

REBECCA ANNE ROACH, 68, children, Tracie (Michael) McCurry and Eric (Karie) Roach; siblings, Roberta (Rick) Byrington, Ramona Davis, Roanna (Wayne) Moore, Leonard Smith, Rachelle “Chelle” (Adam) Ziegler and Esther (Jay) Barton; one grandson.
Rebecca grew up in the Sacred Heart neighborhood and graduated from Sacred Heart Grade School. She retired from General Motors after 32 years of service and loved retirement. Rebecca enjoyed traveling, photography, watching NASCAR, going to races, and making memories with family and friends.

STEVEN ROGER ROARK, 73, wife, Charlotte M. Roark; sons, Steven and Jaycen (Jamie) Roark; sister, Deanna (Mick) Rooney; four grandchildren; one great-granddaughter.
Steve served in the U.S. Marine Corps and also attended Ivy Tech. He worked as a welder until retirement. He loved sports, hunting and fishing. He was a member of Beech Grove Loyal Order of Moose #1883 and the American Legion Post #276. He loved music which was his happy place and never missed a Friday night poker game with friends.
A visitation will be Friday, January 20 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Lauck & Veldhof Funeral Home, 1458 S. Meridian St., with a service celebrating his life at 1 p.m.

Ernest Eugene Roberts, 81, passed away January 12. Survivors, daughter, Gina Roberts; sister, Mary Lou Lacy; many cousins, nieces and nephews.

PHILOMENA “PHYLLIS” RODIER, 84, children, Keith Rodier, and Karen (Rick) Tracy; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; siblings, Vincent and Frank (Nancy) Durso.
After graduating she modeled and competed in local beauty pageants. She married Richard Rodier and the family settled in Greenwood.
Phyllis worked at BAGI from 1996 to her retirement in 2008. She was a strong leader in sales and marketing, with many event memories from Home-a-Rama and golf outings. She enjoyed many world travels. In 2004 she set sail on the Queen Mary 2 for her maiden voyage, a dream come true for her. She was unwavering in her faith and modeled what it looked like to serve and be Christ’s hands and feet.  
A visitation will be Wednesday, January 18, 2023 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. with the memorial service at 1 p.m. at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.

JUDITH ANN WILLIAMSON, 78, husband, Michael Williamson; children, Sherri (Robbie) Lefevers, Kimberly (Derek) Williamson Hightower and Larry (Michael) Williamson Foster; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren.
Judy worked as a manufacturing engineer for Navistar International. She obtained her associate’s degree from Indiana University and then obtained her bachelor’s degree from Wesleyan University in 1991. Judy was a member of Little Flower Parish in Indianapolis. She had a passion for learning new things. Judy will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

SHIRLEY J. WOOD, 87, widow of Donald Wood; daughters, Lisa Hammond and Amy Stoll (Kent); three granddaughters; two great-grandchildren.
She was a graduate of Manual High School and worked at Adult & Child Mental Health for 15 years. She was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church and formerly Sacred Heart Catholic Church. An avid history buff, she enjoyed reading and trivia. She enjoyed playing cards, bingo, cooking and going to the casino. She adored her friendships she formed with those in Forest Creek Village.
