Kathryn graduated from Southport High School in 1976. She retired from Enterprise in 2021. Kathryn truly lived life to its fullest and will always be remembered as feisty “Lil Bit” and “Nana”.

ALBERT A. BUTTERFIELD, 82, sons, Kevin (Jamie) and Albert (Hellen) Butterfield; siblings, Dennis Butterfield, Patti Butterfield Traut; two grandchildren.
After graduating high school, Albert enjoyed his career of 48 years at Allison’s/Rolls-Royce where he worked in the aircraft engine test cells. This is where he developed his love and passion for flying. Albert owned and flew many ultralights and spent every weekend he could at Franklin Flying Field.

Del grew up in Fountain Square, attending St. Patrick Grade School and St. John’s Academy. She spent 16 years working for the Archdiocese of Indianapolis. At 80, she found love again with Bill Heidenreich. The two enjoyed walking in Garfield Park and attending St. Roch Catholic Church.

A veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp, Bob worked for over 43 years at Link Belt Bearing-Rexnord Corp. He volunteered countless hours coaching football, basketball, baseball, softball, and golf. He loved to play golf. A talented woodworker, Bob loved building beautiful furniture for his family, much crafted from cast-off wood.

Terri was a graduate of Greenwood High School and IUPUI. She was an IT Specialist and was employed for 15 years at Endress & Hauser and had previously worked at Greenwood Community School Corporation technology departments. She had attended Greenwood Christian Church and Emmanuel Church of Greenwood.

She loved to sing and watch old movies. Most evenings she could be found reading a good book or cooking for her family. She has been a long-time member of St. Mark Catholic Church.

EDWARD “MIKE” MADDEN, 64,  brother, Christopher T. Madden.
Mike was a very talented cabinet maker specializing in custom furniture and cabinets. He loved his television programs, most notably Star Trek, M.A.S.H. and Andy Griffith along with reading novels. He loved the Beatles and his favorite song was “Let it Be” which played in the background at the hospital as he drifted away to his new heavenly home.

NORMA JEANNE MORRISON, 94, husband, Richard P. Morrison; children, Timothy Morrison and Michele (Richard) Darragh; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.
Jeanne graduated from Sacred Heart High School and later worked for Bell Telephone, Avon, and Welcome Wagon.
Later in life she developed a passion for golf and even got a “Hole-in-One” at Otte Golf Course in Greenwood. Jeanne’s lifelong passion was playing bridge where she could enjoy the company of her friends. She was member of St. Mark Catholic Church.

SHARON JEAN VANDYKE MURRAY, 77, husband, Gary; children, Brian (Michelle) Murray, Angela (Tony) Delello; four grandchildren; siblings, Linda (Bob) Poehler, Skip (Pam) and Danny (Christina) VanDyke, Kay (Bill) Riley, Jacqui (Randy) Dakin.
Sharon graduated from Center Grove High School in 1963. She spent 27 years as a teachers aide working for Johnson County Special Services. She loved to vacation on the beach. She was a member of Bluff Creek Christian Church.
Friends and family will gather on Wednesday, Feb. 22 from 4-8 p.m. at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service and Crematory-Greenwood Chapel and from 10 a.m. until time of service on Thursday.

ARTHUR EDWARD NATION, 90, He served in the U.S. Air Force and worked as a radio officer on some of the largest tanker ships in the world.

DAN A. ORR, 91, wife, Barbara Orr; children, Scott and Dana Orr, Dale (Edward) Heffernan, Tara Rembusch, Joe (Celia) and Brett (Lori) Wick; 13 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; siblings, Kenneth Orr, Karen Storie and Donna Jean Groghan.
Dan was a member of the ROTC, then went on to serve as an Officer in U.S. Air Force. He traveled internationally for P.R. Mallory, after which he was the original founder of C.M.W. Inc. He enjoyed spending time on his John Deere tractor, and kept a meticulous lawn.

DONALD EARL OVERTON, 71, wife, Brenda D. Overton; children, Crystal and Robert (Angelica) Overton, Cathy (Scott) Kavis and Marshall (Laurie) Wendell; siblings, John Overton, Beverly Clark; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.
Don was a 1970 graduate of Manual High School. He retired from Ameritech in 2010 after working as a cable technician for 39 years.
He loved to ride motorcycles, watch NASCAR and the Indy 500. Don loved his fur babies and spending time with his family.

HAROLD C. POTEET, JR., 78, wife, Eileen Poteet; children, Jeff (Amy) Poteet, Laura (Steve) Walker; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild.
He was a member of UAW. Harold worked for General Motors for over 35 years as a journeyman pipe fitter and engineer. He loved to build furniture in his garage, spend time with his grandchildren, take care of his tomato garden and yard, and attend any activity his grandchildren were involved in.

JEANNE MARIE ROBINSON, 74, husband, Harold “Robbie” Robinson; their two furbabies, Fanny May and Cuddles Pie. Jeanne will be laid to rest in Acton Cemetery.

DONALD MILTON ROLLER, 85, wife, Ann T. Roller; children, Joseph (Tracey) and Christopher (Jessie) Roller, Therese (Michael) Schroeder; 11 grandchildren.
Don met Ann through a singles group called Catholic Alumni Club where Don was the local chapter president and later the regional vice president with Ann as secretary. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Purdue University and master’s degree from Butler University. He served in the U.S. Air Force and was an equipment engineer on fighter jets. He belonged to a radio club, enjoyed gardening. Don followed sports, especially Purdue.

JUANITA M. SMITH SUTLIFF VANDIVIER, 95, widow of Wendell “Woody” D. Vandivier; children, Nancy (Mike) DeCamp, Stu (Candy) Sutliff; eight granddaughters; nine great-grandchildren.
She was a charter member of the Southport Order of Rainbow Girls Assembly No.10 and Worthy Advisor, a 50-plus year member of Southport Order of Eastern Star Chapter No. 442 and later Beech Grove Chapter No. 465. She worked for the Indiana State Police, Public Employee Retirement Fund and was secretary to the Auditor of State.
She loved to entertain and considered hospitality to be an extension of her Christian faith.

JOE LEE VEST, 88, widower of JoAnn Vest; partner, Kenijo Brown; her children and their families; JoAnn’s children and their families; sister, Wanda (Dick) Lewis; children, Barbara (Jim) Land, Donna Baca, Scott (Susan), Thomas (Teaka) and Danny (Kristin) Vest; many grandchildren.
He was a 1952 graduate of Emmerich Manual High School. Joe was an electrician with International Harvester.

SAMUEL CHARLES WESSEL, 81, widower of Judy; children, Vicki Poteet, Greg (Christey) Lanham, Will (Susie) Hinton, Samuel, Michael (Jody) and Richard (Tammy) Radziwell; 19 grandchildren; siblings, Suzann (Charles) Speer and Denise (Tony) Tyler.
He graduated from Manual High School, class of 1960. Sam served in the Navy as a Sergeant serving two tours in Vietnam. Sam retired after 45 years of service at the Indianapolis Water Company.
He was a Freemason and joined the VFW. He loved racing at Indianapolis Raceway Park and watching NASCAR, truck racing and football. His favorite teams were the Colts and IU.

ALIENE WILDER, 73, widow of Merle Wilder; daughter, Tamara (Eric) Bowser; two grandchildren; siblings, Judith (William) Browning, Rose Marie (George) Howard and Rema Huff Jr.
She worked as an administrative assistant at Egenolf Machine and later retired from G.H. Herrmann Funeral Homes after many years of service. An avid reader, Aliene enjoyed traveling and cherished time with her grandchildren.

​ANN LOUISE (LAWRIE) JAMES, 83, of McKinney, Texas went to be with her Lord and Savior on the morning of February 13, 2023. She was born on March 9, 1939, in Indianapolis, Indiana to Joseph Lawrie and Louise (Gilliam) Lawrie. She graduated from the Sacred Heart of Indianapolis in 1957. The Indianapolis 500 race track was a special place for Ann. She was crowned the first festival Queen of the Indianapolis 500 in 1959 and met her future husband, Richard “Dick” James at the 1959 race while he was on leave from the United States Marine Corp. She and Dick were married one year later. Her youngest son was born on race day in 1964 and her husband died on race day in 2008.
After starting their family they moved to Charleston, West Virginia, living in the Midwest, California and then making their way to Huntsville, Texas and finally settling in McKinney, Texas. Ann was active throughout her life hosting a morning television show in Charleston and serving on the City Council in Huntsville, Texas as well as volunteering for many organizations including teaching swim lessons at the YMCA and supporting and volunteering in all of her children’s activities. Ann will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard “Dick” James; sister, Sue Lawrie Burkert. Left behind to cherish her memory son, Jay James and wife Kim; son, Joseph “Todd” James and wife Suzanne; son, Jeff James; grandchildren, Dillon and Jessica James; Taylor, Kendell and Travis James and sister, Jay Lawrie. The family is planning a private memorial service at the race track in Indianapolis at a later date. Donations may be made to The Wounded Warriors.

PHILIP RAY ADAMS, 79, children, Angela (Steve) Wanicki and Brian (Susan) Adams; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.
Phillip was a graduate of Whiteland High School. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and worked for Allison Engine Company/Rolls-Royce of North America for over 40 years. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and golfer. He was a kind man who loved his family and worked hard to provide a good life.

ANITA M. BARRA, 82, sisters, Alana Barra, Adela Cooper and Amelia Sowders; roommate, Barbara Kuhn.
She was a member of Gracepoint Church and was a beloved Aunt and animal lover. She retired after 52 years as a Registered Nurse.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time at 1 p.m. Saturday, February 18, 2023 at G.H. Herrmann Madison Avenue Funeral Home, 5141 Madison Ave, Indianapolis, IN 46227.

MARGARET BLETTNER, 100, widow of Don Blettner; son, Dale (Susan); two grandsons; three great-granddaughters; sister, Dorothy Keller.
In her early 20’s she moved to Indianapolis and met the love of her life Don Blettner. They enjoyed camping, fishing, sailing, gardening, playing cards and relished being with family and friends.
Margaret was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. She lived her final years at a nursing facility where her warm personality and gentle spirit continued to shine and made a lasting impression on those she met.

ARTHER LEE BOLTON, 82, wife, Betty Jane Bolton; children, Penny McGowan (Virt), April Ubank, Peggy, Arthur Jr. (Rebecca), Russ (Melissa), and William “Ed” Bolton; siblings, William and Roger Bolton, Mary Staples, Karen Christie; 20 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren.
He was head of maintenance for St. Bernadette Catholic Church for 19 years. Arther was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother. Family was everything to him. He was a member of The Bible Group.
Visitation will be Thursday, Feb. 17, 2023 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at Shirley Brothers Thompson Road Chapel, 3333 E. Thompson Road.

FRED K. CARSON, 73, wife, Sharlene Carson; children, Christopher (Tina) and Joel (Jayme) Carson, Alicia (Don) Garver; sisters, Clara Belle, Irene, Virginia, and Helen.
Fred adored his family and lovingly had nicknames for all of his children and grandchildren. He was known as the funniest man in the room, a trait he passed on to his children. He enjoyed fishing, playing golf and cooking. He loved classic country music, and some fond memories include him singing to us no matter the time or place. Fred had a lifelong love of animals.

STEFANO LUIGI CARLO DI MARCO, 61, widower of Lisa Di Marco; significant other, Julie Serber; her two boys, Luke and Brody; daughters Victoria Knapp (Brian), Gabriela Stanley (Michael); sister, Laura Di Marco; three grandsons.
Stefano came from Venezuela to study and attended Indiana State University where he graduated and obtained his U.S. Citizenship. He worked as a powder coating distributor at ITW GEMA. He enjoyed nothing more than a strong cup of espresso and a good piece of parmigiana from Italy with a glass of wine.

DIANNA L. GRAY, 77, son, Troy Gray; one grandson; brother, Charles Lauer.
Dianna loved to play solitaire and work on her gem art. She was also very involved in researching her family’s ancestry. She was a long-time member of the Jehovah’s Witnesses.

JUDITH ANN HENDRICKSON, 81, widow of Ronald Hendrickson; children, Christopher Hendrickson (Carol Craig) and Lori Mills; two grandchildren.
Judith was a devoted member of Risen Lord Lutheran Church where she also was Treasurer. She was a lover of dogs and wolves and rescued multiple dogs during her later years.

CONSTANCE LEE “CONNIE” O’CONNOR HENSCHEN, 79, husband, Albert Henschen; children, Michael Henschen, Laura Carter (Wayne), Dianna Popp and Pamela Poynter (Tim); siblings, Annie Alexander (Bill), Marylou Crider (Jim), Patty Milharcic (Mike), Susie Tetrick, Debbie Eck, Tom (Connie) and Bill O’Connor (Kathy); 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren.
Connie graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1961. Connie was receiving manager at Kmart for 24 years. Her hobbies included crossword puzzles, baking and cooking. She loved shopping, traveling and cardinal bird watching. She enjoyed hosting gatherings.

BARBARA R. HERRON, 88, widow of James P. Herron; children, David (Theresa), Mark (Perri), Bob (Cindy), Tim (Jenny), and James (Julie) Herron, Cathy (Tim) Collins and Deborah (Michael) Keaton; 23 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren.
She was a member of St. Barnabas Catholic Church. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandkids. She also enjoyed playing cards, cooking, walking, and going to Mass.

H. LEO HORNBROOK, 95, widower of Bonnie; son, Michael (Rita) Hornbrook; six grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; sister, Norma.
Leo loved people and loved meeting new folks. Let’s say, he knew no strangers. He loved bowling with Bonnie and talking everyone’s ears off.
He loved eating at Fujiyama and Lindo Mexico. He worked for Roselyn Bakery for 50 years and worked his way up to Vice President of sales. Leo was a U.S. Army Veteran who served in World War II.

RHODA JOHNSON, 88, husband, Richard Johnson; sister, Marie Oberle; children, Carla Ewell, Paul Piepenbrok; stepchildren, Kim Brown (Jody), Susan Mehas, Andy Johnson (Alice); 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.
She was a real estate broker from 1986-2003 working at Graves and Tomlin realty companies. She was a member of the Indiana State Symphony Society, South Group Women’s Committee. She was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ and served as the church’s first woman president. Her hobbies included cooking, travel, gardening, Bible studies and playing bridge.
 A celebration of life will be at Saint John’s United Church of Christ, 7031 S. East Street, Feb. 18. Visitation is 11 a.m.-1 p.m. prior to the memorial service.

JEAN J. KNOX, 91, widow of Frank V. Knox; sons, Gregory (Evelyn), Mark (Hiroshi), and Scott (Janice) Knox; four grandchildren.
Jean worked for several years as a seamstress at J.C. Penny and Post Road Tailors. She was an avid dog lover and enjoyed watching westerns.

JOHNNIE BOYD MCKEE, 68, wife, Denise McKee; children, Johnnie (Hannah) and Kyle McKee, Kaleena (Justin) Sergent; mother, Juanita McKee; brothers, Jeff (April), Larry, Doug (Donna) and Neal (Robin) McKee; many grandchildren.
John enjoyed fishing, camping, and driving around in his golf cart. He was a known fan of heavy metal music and famous for his sweet tooth.

DONALD K. MILLS, 92, wife, Joann Mills; sons, Michael and Nicholas Mills; sisters, Nancy White, and Barbara Denzio.
Don was a true outdoorsman. He loved the serenity of boating and fishing on Lake Monroe and he also enjoyed mountains and oceans. He was an avid sports fan and enthusiastically coached the young athletes of Little and Pony League and the Y-Guys Football. He traveled extensively throughout the United States and Canada, London and Tokyo. Don was a member of Southport Heights Christian Church.

SUSAN JEAN “SUSIE” CARTER PERRINE, 53, daughter, Lauren Sherrell; siblings, Terri, Lloyd and Bobby Carter; one granddaughter; father, Bobby Carter.
Susie attended Arsenal Technical High School. Her hobbies included fishing, yard selling, driving, shopping and playing games. Susie loved spending time with friends and family. Her favorite movie to watch was The Sound of Music. Susie enjoyed laughing and making others laugh and smile.

RAYMOND RAKER, 95, wife, Ginny; brother, Arvine; children, Mark (Janet), Jane Kyle (Greg); three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.
Ray completed his college education at Butler University. He worked at Midland Building Industries, Pitman Moore Company, and Dow Chemical Company.
Ray and “Ginny” were married 72 years. He played fast-pitch softball, ran in the Indianapolis Corporate Challenge Track Event, and bowled until he was 92 years old. He enjoyed yard work, playing bridge, euchre, and pinochle.
 Visitation Feb. 21, 2023 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m., Celebration of Life at 1 p.m. at Friedens United Church of Christ. Services entrusted to G H Herrmann Funeral Home.

​MICHAEL L. ROBERTS, 67, wife, Gloria Roberts; mother, Carole L. Roberts; son, Michael S. Roberts; stepson, Charlie McMahon; siblings, Doug and Greg Roberts, Beverly Farmer.
Michael served in the U.S. Air Force Reserves and earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Indiana Central (UIndy).
He worked for 30 years at Indianapolis Metal Spinning. Michael was a hardworking man who was always there, never turning his back on anyone. He also enjoyed fishing.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and a retiree from Ford Motor Company with over 30 years of service. From 1992 to 2012, he owned and operated the Persimmon Tree Bed & Breakfast in Greenwood. He was a member of the Southport Lodge No. 270 F & A.M. and the Murat Shrine.
Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service & Crematory handled arrangements.

KATHERINE MARIE WERDEN, 93, widow of Harry Werden; children, Linda (Delbert) Smith, Debra and Randall Edward (Linda) Werden; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren.
Katie was a graduate of Emmerich Manual High School and had been employed at US Rubber, Roselyn Bakery and Whiteland Cleaners. She retired to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
Forest Lawn Funeral Home Greenwood handled arrangements.
