She was a graduate of Hamilton Southeastern High School and attended Ivy Tech in Indianapolis. She was a certified Medical Coder.
She enjoyed adult coloring books in order to help with her stress, baking her sweets, reading, going to many live concerts, watching the Indianapolis Colts and especially enjoyed her weekend road trips with her husband.
She was a member of the Noblesville Moose Lodge and Daughters of the American Legion of Fishers, IN. Survivors include her husband of 35 years Timothy Patterson, her son Zachary, her mother Mildred.
She was preceded in death by her father Gilford Threet. Visitation and funeral were held on Tuesday at G. H. Herrmann Madison Avenue Funeral Home, 5141 Madison Avenue, Indianapolis, IN. She will be laid to rest at Concordia Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Wheeler Mission or the American Cancer Society.
Ron was a graduate of Southport High School. He earned a Bachelor’s degree from Indiana State University. He was a member of the American Legion Post #252.

MILDRED LOUISE BAILEY ARMSTRONG, 101, widow of Marion Armstrong; children, Jeanne Jenkins and Stan Chaplin; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.
She served her country as a Rosie the Riveter working for the consolidated B-24 Liberator crafting wiring harnesses during World War II in San Diego, CA. She retired from L.S. Ayres.
Mildred loved reading cookbooks and sharing recipes, some of which earned her blue ribbons at the Johnson Co. Fair.
Mildred was a devout member of Smith Valley United Methodist Church for 69 years.

Tracey loved to listen to country music, collect Native American figurines, drink coffee, sit outside, talk about his children and grandchildren and take walks when he was able to.

Michael graduated from Greenwood High School. He joined the military in 2005, displaying extraordinary bravery and dedication during deployments. His valor was recognized through numerous awards.
After leaving active duty, he continued his service with the Indiana National Guard Reserve and obtained his EMT license.
Known for his love of motorcycles, tattoos, and anything fast, he was the life of any party.

ELIZABETH “LIZ” BURGESS, 74, husband, Donnie Burgess; children, William (Jenny) Burgess and Deborah Johnson; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.
Liz worked as a cafeteria manager for Decatur Township and retired after over 20 years.
She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church for many years. She worked in children’s and youth ministries.
Liz enjoyed cooking chicken and noodles, green beans, rolls and sausage bread. She loved supporting the youth in her life.
Visitation will be Wed., Dec. 20, 2023, at Trinity Baptist Church, from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. with the funeral at 1 p.m.

Barbara was a graduate of Sacred Heart High School and was an office administrator in the road construction industry for many years. She had a passion for genealogy.
Barbara grew up in the Garfield Park neighborhood and belonged to St. Catherine’s. Later she was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church. She will be remembered as loving and caring, always putting her family first.

FREDRICK “FRED” J. ENGELKING, 92, widower of Barbara Engelking; sons, Frank (Lisa), Carl, James (Sarah), and William (Miah) Engelking; three grandchildren.
He was a member of Our Lady of the Greenwood, and the Genealogical Society of Marion County. He previously served as president of the organization. He was a graduate of Cathedral High School and Indiana University.
Fred proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War with the 51st Fighter Wing. He enjoyed researching genealogy, doing crossword puzzles and was a voracious reader.

Kim graduated from Manual High School. She worked as a Pharmacy Technician for Walgreens before retirement. Kim loved to read, travel, especially to the Smoky Mountains, and play games with her grandchildren.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. For 35 years, he was an operations manager at FedEx. He was an avid coin collector and enjoyed playing golf with friends.

JERRY LEMONS, 49, wife, Sandra; children, Elizabeth, Jennifer, Jessica, Markey, and Jacob; brothers, Gary Bartlett, James Ricketts; two grandchildren.
He was a graduate of Manual High School. He attended Mt. Calvary Evangelistic Center. He worked as a truck driver with SAIA until the day of his passing.
He spent his free time with his grandchildren, listening to gospel music, helping others with their cars, lending a hand to others in need, and attending church. He enjoyed football and NASCAR.

SHIRLEY ENGLEMAN LYNCH, 88, widow of Theodore “Bud” Lynch.
She was a proud Phi Beta Kappa key recipient. She held Bachelors and Masters Degrees from Indiana University and was an avid lifelong learner and reader. During her teaching career, she taught English and Latin at Ben Davis High School and Southport High School. She was loved by her family members, friends, colleagues, and former students.
A Celebration of Life Service will be at 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 4, 2024, at G. H. Herrmann Madison Avenue Funeral Home.
LEODA STEPHENS, 92, widow of Billy Stephens; children, Billy Jr. (Faye), Roger (Susie), and Terry (Tina) Stephens; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren.
Leoda’s primary role was as a homemaker and mother to her family. She was a member of Indianapolis Baptist Temple since 1967. She was a talented seamstress and crafter. Leoda was a dedicated fan of the Indianapolis 500 for many years. She loved cooking, gardening, and spending time with her family.

MARK “TWOTYMES” TARTER, II, 35, parents, Mark Tarter and Sonia Tarter; children, Markus Tarter, India May; sister, Amanda Tarter; grandparents, Rodolfo and Christina Garza.
Mark attended IPS and Center Grove schools. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, going to Colts and Pacer games, playing golf and basketball. He loved his children more than they will ever know.

Esther retired from Baby Superstore. She enjoyed making crafts and working with her hands. Her home was displayed with many of her homemade talents. Her favorite place to shop was Hobby Lobby and the Dollar Tree. She loved to bake, making cakes and cookies for her family and friends. She loved the holidays, especially Christmas. She was a supportive mother, giving advice whenever needed.

Carol had worked for Thompson Marketing in Manufacturing Representation. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and was on the Board of Directors for Meals on Wheels in Greenwood.

She graduated from Sacred Heart Catholic School and attended St. Jude Catholic Church. She enjoyed gardening and cooking but her passion was taking care of her family.

THAD C. YANIS, 52, parents, Ruben and Karen Yanis; siblings, Jeff (Aimee) Yanis and Tara (Kent) Richwine.
He was a champion bowler with the Special Olympics and was a devoted Colts fan and was a season ticket holder since 1998. Thad loved the family trips to Disney World and especially liked Minnie Mouse. He always had a smile on his face and was fondly referred to as “the angel among us.”
