Offering a unique spin on the Indianapolis 500, the event features the zoo’s “racing” tortoises and includes additional themed activities throughout the day.
Beginning at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 24, guests can meet the 500 Festival princesses and get their pictures taken with a 500 Festival pace car. Pre-race festivities also include children’s games.
The tortoises and their keepers will take center stage at 11:30 a.m. for a parade lap before IndyCar driver Tony Kanaan drops the green flag. A tray of fruits and veggies awaits the animals at the finish line.
All activities are free for zoo members and included with regular admission. Info: www.IndianapolisZoo.com.
