PictureSUBMITTED PHOTO Parishioners from St. Mark Catholic Church can’t wait for their Funfest to get under way at 5 p.m. Thursday. New and exciting this year are dual zip lines, which open at 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday. The event will also feature Monte Carlo games, bingo, children’s activities, sit-down dinners and live music.

While St. Mark’s Funfest will feature Monte Carlo games, raffles, inflatables, bingo, children’s activities, music and food, the parish is going one up on the competition by offering dual 250-foot zip lines, which will run parallel to 6000 block of South U.S. 31.

The festival gets under way Thursday with City BBQ serving dinner from 5-8 p.m. and Ray Cumberland & Friends providing the musical entertainment, but the zip lines won’t open until 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
Friday’s activities include a youth music program, a catered meal by Moe’s Southwest Grill and music by Train Wreck at 8 p.m.

Saturday’s festivities kind of have a poultry theme as dinner will be served by Krispy Krunchy Fried Chicken before Tastes Like Chicken takes the stage at 8 p.m.
Other vendors selling their mouth-watering specialties will be Brozinni Pizzzeria, Heine’s Roast Beef, Chef Dan’s Indy, Southern Comfort Cajun Food and Der Pretzel Wagon. For the sweet tooth, Mrs. Curl’s Ice Cream will be on hand.

The grand raffle will feature a cash prize of $2,500 or a year’s tuition at St. Mark or $4,300 toward tuition at Roncalli; second prize is $500. And a car will be given away, albeit it’s a battery-powered convertible for a child.
Most activities will be held under tent or in the school’s air-conditioned halls, so Mother Nature shouldn’t wreak havoc on the affair ... unless you’re planning to test out the zip lines.
