Also being honored will be Larry Huff as the 2018 Alumnus of the Year and Christina Ferguson as the 2017 Teacher of the Year.
Huff, Class of 1968, has served for the past 10 years as president and CEO of Samaritan Inns, a nonprofit ministry that helps formerly homeless men, women and families who suffer from drug and alcohol addictions.
He previously was a senior partner at KPMG, an international accounting and professional services firm. He piloted a transport plane in the Air Force and earned a degree in engineering management from the Air Force Academy, where he was a member of the football team that played in the 1971 Sugar Bowl.
Huff, who lives in Leesburg, Va., with his wife, Lyn, earned a master’s from UCLA.
Ferguson has enjoyed teaching math at Southport for 16 years. Originally from Northampton, Pa., she graduated from Valparaiso High School and received her undergraduate degree from Purdue and master’s in math education from IUPUI.
Ferguson, who has co-sponsored the school’s National Honor Society for the past 14 years, said she is privileged to serve young people every day. She and husband Don reside on the Southside.
