SUBMITTED PHOTO Members of Greenwood Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5864 gathered July 7 to have their picture taken at the site of their future home on a 3.6-acre parcel on Commerce Parkway West Drive. The organization has been headquartered along South Washington Street for about 30 years but has outgrown the space, which has become costlier to maintain. The new facility will cost about $1.4 million and will be paid for through a combination of money from the sale of their current facility, for which the city is paying $500,000. Construction is expected to begin by Aug. 15. Post members are (front, from left) Dale Shelton, Martha Sturgis, Tina Winningham, Freda Boutwell, Dave Constant, Mary Canner, Steve Milbourn, Beth Martin, Laura DeGroot, Felicia DeGroot (kneeling), Hernan Mendoza, G.K.
