In celebration of Easter, members of the Southport Police Department visited sick children at Franciscan St. Francis Health on Saturday. Children were treated to toys and candy, and the department’s mascot, Justice, even held a baby under the watchful eye of Chaplain John Coy.
The ideal of visiting children at St. Francis around the holidays was launched three years ago by Coy and his wife, Chris, after he almost spent Thanksgiving at the hospital and wondered what it was like for children to spend their holidays sick and away from home.
