Corey Van Wye has achieved the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest honor attainable in Boy Scouts.
A member of Troop 39 chartered by Southport United Methodist Church, Van Wye is a junior at Hoosier Academies and has been active in Scouting for six years.
Van Wye, son of Michelle Knight, was named an Eagle Scout after demonstrating exceptional leadership and completing his service project, which entailed landscaping the front of Southport Church of the Nazarene.
Only 4 percent of Scouting’s national membership attains the rank of Eagle.
