Fifth annual event is Saturday at German Park
Showcasing 40 to 50 athletes competing in highland athletic events, the fifth annual Scottish Games and Festival will run from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Saturday at German Park, 8600 S. Meridian St. The event will also feature Celtic dancers, roaming entertainers and music by Mother Grove, Celtic Rain, Pictus and Drunk & Sailor, The Indianapolis 500 Gordon Pipers and Fountain Trust Pipers. In addition, there will be youth activities, Scottish wares on sale and food, beer and whiskey for the palate. The Tudor Rose Players will play King Robert the Bruce and his queen, Elizabeth de Brugh. The royalty will appear with their court depicting the early 1300s. Children in attendance will have the opportunity to be knighted or made ladies by the “reigning king and queen” of Scotland. New for this year will be a solo piper competition. Tickets, $5 per child, $12 per adult, can be purchased in advance by visiting www.indyscotgamesand fest.com. Tickets at the gate will be $8 and $15, respectively; children under 4 will be admitted free. Volunteers are still needed. |
